Sending in a package/return to Modern Performance? Package it well!

We received a core cylinder head back from a customer, and we’re very lucky that the cylinder head wasnt destroyed in shipping.

We’re not posting photos to embarrass anyone, we want this to be a opportunity to teach our customers how NOT to ship items.

This cylinder head, which weighs about 60 lbs, had a few air filled plastic bags surrounding it, and it was put into a flimsy cardboard box. Once the cylinder head with sharp corners punctured the plastic bags, the bags ruptured and the cylinder head had no protection. Then, the corners of the cylinder head punctured through the box. The cylinder head was eventually damaged on the edge of the exhaust side, but luckily no gasket sealing surfaces were damaged.

Morale of this? When you ship an item, understand that it could be tossed around, dropped, have several hundred pounds of items stacked on top of it, and more. Package your item so that it can withstand all of this possible abuse, and make sure you have PLENTY of packaging material to protect it, and keep it solidly in place during shipping.

Guess what burst through the sides of this box, and was scraping on the ground?
