MP’s entrance into the 24 hours of Lemons in 2011! Part 1

MP entered into the 24 hours of Lemons endurance race at the MSR racetrack in Angleton, Texas on October 1st and 2nd 2011.

We entered our 1998 Dodge Neon coupe and this was our third entrance into the 24 hours of Lemons. Our roster of drivers were: Charles, Cory, David, Ryan, Vincent, Will (Matt was our crew chief and team captain).

During the BS inspections on friday the judges gave us a hard time for being too “bland” and not having a theme other than a battleship gray and white theme from last year. The judges also gave us a hard time for having control arm bushings installed in our control arms. Our battery tray was decently secured, but evidently not enough as they made us further secure the battery tray.

Our car can be seen from 35 seconds to 42 seconds in this video of the BS inspections:

We made an effort to butter up the judges by giving them some Alamo beer and Blue moon pumpkin ale. The judges felt that this was terrible beer, and they almost gave us penalty laps for trying to give them such bad beer.

Other than the BS inspection and the entrance, everything else was smooth with no problems.

Next up, photos of the race!

Tomorrow (10-4-11) we’ll post photos of mechanical failures that set us back!
