Cory’s SRT-4 engine rebuild coming along well. JE Pistons, Eagle Rods, Coatings, Clevite Bearings.

It was time to rebuild the 2004 SRT4 engine that was swapped into the 1995 Neon Nitro Yellow Green ACR Coupe.

So, it was removed, cleaned, and its now being assembled!

Here are the quick specs:
JE 8.5:1 Asymmetrical pistons (stock compression is 8.0:1) Dome and skirts coated by Calico
Eagle rods
(Both rods and pistons balanced)
Clevite rod bearings with Calico coating
Balance shafts removed, oil galley plugged
Balance shaft sprocket on crank removed

Now, heres whats exciting..
Close to 1 lb of weight was directly removed off of the rotating mass due to the lighter pistons and rods over stock.
Calico coatings reduce friction between the piston and cylinder wall.
Calico coatings reduce friction between the crank and rods.
Close to 20 lbs of mass removed by eliminating the balance shafts.
Increasing the compression by 1/2 a point will improve spool up time and increase power.

Now, onto the pics:

Calico coated piston skirts, domes and bearings
Balanced rods and piston assemblies
Hot tanked, cleaned, and new freeze plugs installed
Ready for assembly!
Bearings installed
Crank installed
Oil galley for balance shafts tapped and plugged

Its all coming together nicely!

More pics later!
