Have a 03-05 Neon SRT-4 and having shifting issues ? Replacing your clutch ? Read this !

PROBLEM : 2003-2005 Dodge SRT-4 owners are having problems with being able to get their car into gear, and or problems with the clutch engaging too low.

CAUSE : The factory clutch pivot fork over time, even though its cast iron wears because of the throw out bearing moving back and forth on it. Also, the throw out bearing can sometimes have wear from the clutch teeth pushing against it.

Here are some photos showing a Neon SRT-4 clutch pivot fork and throw out bearing that had 30,000 miles on it. YES, 30,000 miles.

Look at the difference in height here between the two assemblies. Over time, because of wear, the height of the assembly gets lower, and it causes the clutch to not properly disengage.

Morale of the story ? Whenever you have a problem with shifting, the clutch engaging too low, and or notchiness in the clutch/drivetrain that seems like the clutch isnt disengaging properly, we HIGHLY recommend inspecting/replacing the clutch pivot fork as well as the clutch throw out bearing.
